“The devil walks about seeking whom he may devour…” I Pet. 5:8
April 30, 2018 - When I heard the sudden flushing of my backyard birds a few days ago, I suspected that a hawk was after them again…and I was right. The next morning, a beautiful Cooper’s hawk (a.k.a. “Blue Darter” or “Chicken Hawk”) was perched near their feeder with a pile of dove feathers nearby.
After being spooked by an approaching hawk, the birds rush to the nearest cover and sit motionless till the danger is gone. They’re not afraid of crows or other large birds but they quickly recognize hawks.
For two days now, the birds haven’t been at the feeders and I don’t wonder why. Birds are smart enough to stay away from places of danger.
Now, if people were just that smart….
