September 15, 2026 - 50 Woman Impact received a generous donation of $9,800 from Beta Sigma Phi-Eta Rho Group; they are aware of our commitment to assisting Shelby County non-profit groups that make a positive difference in the communities across our county. After consideration, and with the approval of the members, the decision was made to divide the funds between the seven (7) Volunteer Fire Departments (VFD) in Shelby County.
When the alarm sounds in a rural community, the person coming to help may be the neighbor who lives down the road, coaches your child’s team, owns a local business or works beside you. They don’t respond because it is their job – they respond because it is their community! Of course you fight fires, but your role extends beyond. We know you are asked to be there for vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, severe weather, wildfires, rescues as well as community emergencies. Because you live and work in this county, you bring something that cannot be measured in dollars: local knowledge, commitment, and an understanding of the people and places you are protecting.
Thank you for being a powerful example of the phrase, “neighbors helping neighbors.” You are living examples of community service, sacrifice, preparedness and responsibility.
50 Women Impact is proud to award a check in the amount of $1,400 to each of the following groups who protect our communities and county: Center VFD, Huxley VFD, Joaquin VFD, Shelbyville VFD, Tenaha VFD, Timpson VFD, and West Shelby County VFD.
