August 9, 2026 - Feleshia Thompson, Shelby County Extension Agent, presented the top participants in the Walk Across Texas Celebration during the grand opening of the new sewing machine rooms on the AgriLife campus in Center on August 6, 2026.
Thompson announced that the program ended in June and she wanted to announce the outstanding teams and walkers.
The first place team and the Walk Across Texas Champions, with an amazing 2039.24 total miles walked was Shelby County Child Advocacy Center.
“This team went above and beyond in their efforts throughout the program. Congratulations to Shelby County Child Advocacy Center,” said Thompson.
Second place team was the “Shelby County Best Walkers,” team captain, Jennifer Fountain; and the third place team was “Walking Out,” with team captain Marlon Cloudy Jr.
The top walker was Diane Sanchez of the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center team and she received a prize of a $50 gift card. The second place walker was Sherry Felder of All Hours Fitness, with the “Fitness to Finish team,” and she received a $25 gift card.
Thompson thanked everyone for participating and said they will probably have another challenge in September.
