David’s Daily Devotion for Aug. 29

August 29, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, August 29.

Let me tell you about a remarkable method of communication and connection. You probably haven’t heard of it. It’s exceedingly rare. I’ll describe it for you.

First, take a sheet of paper and place it flat on a table or desk. Next, using a writing implement - pen, pencil, crayola, your choice - fill the sheet of paper with thoughts. Important thoughts, trivial thoughts, humorous thoughts, serious thoughts - again, your choice.

Then, fold the sheet of paper, place it in an envelope, and inscribe the front of it with the name and address of someone who is important to you. Finally - and this is an important step - place a postage stamp on the top right corner of the envelope and entrust it with a government agency called The United States Postal Service. That’s all there is to it.

This rare and wonderful form of communication is called a letter. And when it is delivered to that important person in your life, you can be certain of one thing - it will bring a smile to their face. What’s better than that? Here are some words from a letter that is two thousand years old - “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God”. Philippians 1:3.

Meet you back here on Monday,

David
