David’s Daily Devotion for Jan. 14

January 14, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, January 14.

On this day in 1875, Albert Schweitzer was born. He died in 1965. So, what did Schweitzer accomplish in his 90 years? Ok, here we go! Are you sitting down? Albert Schweitzer was a musician, scientist, writer, architect, engineer, musicologist, theologian, inventor, designer, missionary, and doctor. Whew! I need to get up off my couch and make something of myself!

Albert Schweitzer was a world class organist and an authority on the work of Bach. He spent most of his life as a missionary to Africa, where he worked as a doctor and built a hospital. He was a respected theologian and writer. His classic book, “Quest for the Historic Jesus”, was a best seller. And in 1952 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Schweitzer also wrote much about the Apostle Paul, another “renaissance” man. God did amazing things through amazing people like Paul and Albert Schweitzer and Mother Teresa and Billy Graham. But I think it’s even more amazing that God also chooses to work through ordinary people like me . . . and like you.

We may not be amazing, like Albert Schweitzer, but, like Albert Schweitzer, we serve an amazing God.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

David
