David’s Daily Devotion for Mar. 5

March 5, 2025 - Good Morning!  It’s Wednesday, March 5.

Today we take a quick look at a famous scripture verse - Philippians 4:13.  It was a favorite verse of my dad and my sister.  Maybe it’s one of yours.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

Does this verse guarantee that a child of God can have whatever they desire?  Let’s look closer.  As you study the Bible there’s one word that’s crucial to a clear understanding, and that word is context.  Consider who wrote the verse, who it was written to, and for what purpose.  It’s also a good idea to examine the verses before and after the key verse.  Here’s Philippians 4:12 -

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.”

Christians experience ups and down in their lives, just like everyone.  But Christ gives His children the strength to find joy and peace in every situation, in the good times and the bad.  The Apostle Paul, who wrote the book of Philippians, had many trials in his life.  All his hopes, and prayers, did not come true.  But the joy of the Lord was his strength.  May that strength be yours today.
