May 18, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, May 18.
Today is Graduation Day! No, not at our local high school, or at nearby Stephen F. Austin University. It's the graduation at our church's daycare! This morning, a crew of four and five-year-olds will march in to the sound of "Pomp and Circumstance", wearing their miniature caps and gowns. It's going to be quite the memorable moment!
As we were preparing for our little ones are take the step from preschool to public school, I had an amazing thought. These kids have the opportunity to see the year 2100! Seems like it was just yesterday when we were worried about Y2K and having parties to welcome in the new millennium. But the Class of 2023 may be able to welcome in the 22nd century. And what will our world be like then? An amazing thought - and more than a little scary.
This past school year, I've had the blessing of meeting with our day care kids each week for what we call "chapel". We share Bible stories and songs about God. And we always end with an old favorite, a song that is a century and a half old now. If our little graduates have the chance to greet a new century, they can sing this song - with their great grand-children - and take confidence in the assurance that . . . Jesus Loves Me!
Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
