September 29, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, September 29.
English can be a complicated language. Many English words have multiple meanings. The word “set” is said to have 430 definitions!
Today we take a look at a complicated Bible word - “blessing”. Here’s just a few of the ways we use it.
*A prayer before meals - “Dad, would you say the blessing?”
*To make the sign of the cross - “The ball player blessed himself before the at-bat.”
*Response to a sneeze - “God bless you!”
*To consecrate - “The minister prayed a blessing over the newborn baby.”
*As a lead-in to gossip - “Bless her heart, she needs to go on a diet!”
*As praise - “Bless the Lord, O my soul”
This Sunday, at First Baptist Center, we’ll sing a song called “The Blessing”. Written just a couple of years ago, it takes its lyrics from several Bible passages, including Numbers 6:24-26.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. God bless you!
Meet you back here tomorrow,
