David’s Daily Devotion for Sept. 8

September 8, 2022 - Good Morning. It's Thursday, September 8.

Tomorrow at 9am there will be a special event in front of our historic courthouse, a moment to remember 911. I'll have the honor of playing some patriotic songs, and leading the singing of "God Bless America". If you're one of our local readers, I urge you to join us.

Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? I was on staff at a church in New Mexico. That's in the Mountain Time Zone, two hours behind the time in New York City. So, at 6:46am, as I prepared for work, the bulletin came across the TV - a plane had flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The news casters didn't really know what to make of it at first.

And then, 17 minutes later, another plane flew into the South Tower, and everyone knew - America was under attack. Within the next hour, a third plane struck the Pentagon. And finally, United Airlines 93 crashed in an empty field in Pennsylvania. It is thought that the intended destination was the Capitol, or perhaps the White House, but because of the brave actions of the passengers, it never reached Washington.

Bravery was the common thread on that day, as hundreds of policemen, firemen, and soldiers ran INTO danger. Many of them never came back out. A total of 2,977 souls were lost that morning . . . and America was changed forever.

We remember.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
