David's Daily Devotion for August 8

August 8, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, August 8.

We’ve come to the end of “Teacher Week” here at the Daily Devotion. My family tree is filled with teachers. Sisters, daughters, nieces, nephews - educators at every level. In my younger years I had the opportunity to serve as a high school choral director. This is a shout out to teachers everywhere. We respect what you do. We acknowledge the difference you make. We commit to lift you up in prayer during this coming school year. Here are some inspiring quotes about teaching.

  • Teaching is not the filling of a pail, it is the lighting of a fire.
  • The best teachers are the ones who show you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see.
  • Teaching is the profession that creates all the other professions.
  • Teachers who love teaching create students who love learning.
  • A teacher’s job is to take a bunch of live wires and see that they are well grounded.
  • Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition.
  • It takes a big heart to shape little minds.
  • Most of us end up with just a few people who remember us. Teachers have thousands who remember them for the rest of their lives.
  • Teaching is the greatest act of optimism.
  • Wherever you find something extraordinary, you’ll find the footprint of an extraordinary teacher.

Meet you back here on Monday,
David
