David's Daily Devotion for February 12

February 12, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, February 12.

I fell in love with Broadway musicals as a teenager. Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a dozen shows in New York, and the chance to be part of the cast or crew or orchestra of lots of community productions. One of my favorites is “Godspell”. It became a hit on the “Great White Way” in 1971, and was turned into a hit movie shortly after. Written by a Jewish composer, it’s based on the teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount - a rather unlikely source for a piece of popular entertainment.

The most famous song from Godspell was inspired by the prayer of an Episcopal priest from a thousand years ago. These ancient words continue to resonate today with truth and inspiration, as we continue to need God’s strength and guidance... day by day.

Day by day, day by day
O dear Lord, three things I pray
To see Thee more clearly
Love Thee more dearly
Follow Thee more nearly day by day

2 Corinthians 4:16 - Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
