July 8, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, July 8.
The first week of July, in 1785, Congress unanimously voted that the official legal tender of the United States would be... the dollar. And Americans have been chasing the “almighty dollar” ever since! But don’t forget what the Bible says - “Money is the root of all evil.”
But wait! That’s one of those scripture verses that is often misquoted. What I Timothy 6:10 actually says is - “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. And so, in that context, money is no different than anything else - power, possessions, pleasure - that we put ahead of God in our lives. Anything that we give a higher priory to than Him can lead us down that road to evil.
That said, the Bible does give special warnings about wealth. Jesus famously (and humorously) said - “It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”. So, if God has seen fit to bless you financially, give Him the glory, give back to Him to build His kingdom, and be faithful to guard your priorities.
