David's Daily Devotion for March 26; Celebrating 5 Years

March 26, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, March 26.

On March 26, 2020, I sat down at my office computer and wrote the very first David’s Daily Devotion. The Covid pandemic had just shut down my church and I wanted to stay connected with the volunteers that I worked with in ministry. That small original group of email friends has multiplied many, many times over during the last five years. Initially, these little thoughts were intended to give comfort during a time of great change and challenge. I hope - after 1400 devotions - that they continue to comfort and connect. My heartfelt thanks to all those who make them a part of their day. And to God be all the glory, honor, and praise.

This little story - a story about faith in the face of adversity - was part of that very first devotion.

Fanny Crosby, without a doubt, is the most prolific gospel song writer in history. Born in 1820, she wrote over 8000 hymns, many of which are still sung in churches today. Blind from the age of six weeks, Fanny faced many obstacles and trials during her life, but she never focused on herself, choosing instead to reach out and serve others. Often she would give so much of her money to the poor, that she was unable to pay her own bills. One day, in 1874, she was ten dollars short on the rent for her meager apartment in New York City. Her hymns had made her plenty of famous and wealthy friends, and she could have reached out to any of them for help. But instead she prayed. It wasn’t long till she heard a knock at her door. When she opened it, a silent stranger put a folded bill into her hand - a ten dollar bill. Fanny Crosby immediately sat down and wrote these words -

All the way my Savior leads me, what have I to ask beside
Can I doubt His tender mercy, who through life has been my guide
Heavenly peace, divinest comfort, here by faith in Him to dwell
For I know whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well
For I know whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well

Happy 5th Anniversary to all our faithful readers! God Bless You!

And, as always... Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
