May 19, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, May 19.
I once worked alongside a pastor who would often remind his flock that there were three ways that God answers prayer - Yes, No, and Wait. When people say, “God didn’t answer my prayer,” they’ve probably forgotten that third kind of answer.
Most of us aren’t very good at waiting. We live in a hurry up world of fast food, microwave ovens, and “I need it here yesterday!” But the Bible is full of stories about people who waited. Joseph waited 13 years in prison before God revealed his destiny. The Lord promised Abraham a son, but he and Sarah had to wait 25 years for Isaac. And the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before they made it to the Promised Land.
Here are some scripture verses about waiting.
- Psalm 27:14 - Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
- Psalm 130:5 - I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope.
- Exodus 14:14 - The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
- Psalm 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God.
- Isaiah 40:31 - They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
