November 30, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, November 30.
Well, we’re on the threshold of another December, the time to celebrate, once again, the coming of the Christ Child. But what do we really know about the story of that first Christmas? Considering the importance of the Nativity event, the Bible devotes a surprisingly small number of words to describe it.
There are 1,189 chapters in the Bible, but only four focus on the Bethlehem story. God's Word contains 31,102 verses, but just 53 tell the tale of Jesus' birth. And so, over the centuries human beings have tried to "fill in the blanks". That's why most people believe that there were three wise men, that the angel sang to the shepherds, and that the magi were with the shepherds and the angel at the stable. The Biblical narrative, of course, tells us none of that.
So, I encourage you, on this threshold of December, to go back to the source. Take 15 minutes to read the verses in the first two chapters of Matthew and Luke. It's a short story. It's a great story. It's a life-changing story.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
