October 24, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, October 24.
In 1922, Albert Einstein was 42 years old, and generally considered the greatest scientist on earth. That year he would receive the Nobel Prize in physics for his Theory of Relativity. But today's devotion is about another of his theories - the theory of happiness.
Before receiving the famous prize, this famous scientist embarked on a world tour. He spent several months traveling in Asia, and one day checked into a hotel in Tokyo, Japan. He "tipped" the bell boy, not with money, but with a piece of paper containing a brief note. On October 24, 2017, that note, nicknamed The Theory of Happiness, was auctioned in Jerusalem for 1.5 million dollars.
While in Tokyo, Einstein met with the Japanese emperor, who was worshipped by his people as a god. Their conversation was not recorded. But it was his encounter with a lowly bell boy, that would produce a message for the ages.
"A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness."
Smart guy.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
