September 21, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, September 21.
Herbert George Wells was born on this day in 1866. H.G. Wells is considered one of the greatest science fiction writers in history. But the thing is, most of his fiction has become fact. His over 50 novels were mostly written in the late 1800’s, and in them he foretold the coming of airplanes, space travel, genetic engineering, television, wireless phones, and the internet. And in 1913, 30 years before Hiroshima, he coined the term “atomic bomb.”
One of H.G. Well’s most famous books was titled “The Time Machine,” and it seems like he must have had his own time machine in order to be so amazingly accurate about the future. As for me, I’ve never been very good at predicting what’s going to happen next. How about you? Want to hazard a guess what life will be like 50 years from now? In 10 years? Next week? I’m reminded of the lyrics of an old gospel song.
I don’t know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day
I don’t borrow from its sunshine, for its skies may turn to gray
I don’t worry o’er the future, for I know what Jesus said
And today I’ll walk beside Him, for He knows what lies ahead
Many things about tomorrow, I don’t seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow, and I know He holds my hand!
