September 25, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, September 25.
My neighbor’s rooster has decided that my place is his second home, or maybe his vacation home. In reality, I’m just his second food source. Every morning - EARLY - he plants himself on my porch and announces his presence with a mighty crow. This continues until I come out with the chicken feed. He has trained me well.
The other day, while he was enjoying his second breakfast, I took a close look at him. This is, without a doubt, the most colorful bird I’ve ever seen. His plumage is a rainbow of hues - yellow, orange, brown, gold, white, green, blue, purple, pink, and to top it all off - a bright red comb. Extravagant!
Every spring we witness the extravagance of nature. The blooms and blossoms offer an amazing palette of colors. Texas wildflowers, alone, would challenge even the deluxe box of crayons. And now, as we enter autumn, we’re about to get another show, the beautiful turning of the leaves. Creation is extravagant. Our Creator continues to bless us... extravagantly.
The psalmist described it like this - “You crown the earth with Your goodness, and your pathways drip with abundance. They drop on the pastures, and the hills rejoice on every side. The fields are clothed with flocks. The valleys are covered with grain. They shout for joy.”
We worship an extravagant Creator. We shout for joy!
