Nominations welcome through November 30
November 5, 2025 — The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) is accepting nominations for four committee chair positions with the Pineywoods Broadband Coalition. Community members and regional partners are invited to recommend individuals to help guide broadband planning, digital skills development and coordinated action across the region.
Established by DETCOG, the coalition brings together regional expertise to help communities prepare for expanding high-speed internet access and turn that access into opportunities for residents, employers and local governments.
One chair will be selected for each of the following committees:
• Digital Navigation and Adoption — Help residents build computer skills and use online services, including telehealth and video communication.
• Coordinated Infrastructure and Funding — Support coordination of broadband construction, existing utilities and regional funding priorities.
• Economic Development and Workforce — Connect broadband expansion with workforce training, employment and economic opportunity.
• Policy Ad Hoc — Convene as needed to review policy issues and develop regional recommendations.
Chairs will work alongside the DETCOG Regional Broadband Director to coordinate committee activities and work plans. Chair duties require a maximum of 20 hours per year; additional time is welcome but optional. Nominees do not need extensive broadband expertise, although familiarity with the subject is helpful. The DETCOG Executive Board retains oversight and final authority.
Nominations are open November 4–30, 2026. Staff review is scheduled for December 1–4, followed by Executive Board approval on December 9 and confirmation with final nominees December 10–18.
