November 6, 2026 - FM 414 near CR 3045 was the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the morning of Thursday, November 5, 2026 just before 7am.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Matt Chandler, a white 2021 Jeep Cherokee driven by Heather Hughes, 39, was westbound on FM 414. At that time a orange and white 1969 Ford F150 driven by Juan Morales, 60, was eastbound. Hughes crossed over onto the wrong side of the road when not passing and the Jeep struck the Ford, causing damage to both vehicles.
Morales was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center in Nacogdoches for treatment of injuries. Hughes was transported by ambulance with two minor children by ambulance to Shelby Emergency Department.
Hughes was issued a citation for wrong side of road not passing.
Assisting at the scene were units with the Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department, and Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Trooper Chandler was assisted by Trooper Keith Jones and Trooper Dawson Pope.
