
May 20, 2026 - U.S. Highway 84 near the intersection of State Highway 7 East just in front of the Joaquin Apartments in a rest area was the scene of a major traffic incident involving an 18-wheeler on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:22am.
Emergency responders with the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly determined extrication of the driver was necessary.

Firefighters used jaws-of-life and other extrication equipment to cut into the truck. Following over an hour of extensive extrication efforts working to safely free the driver, he was finally able to be moved to an ambulance for transport. The fire department personnel cleared the scene at 6:30am.
According to details from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a black 2014 Kenworth T60 towing a flatbed trailer and driven by Christopher Wilson, 42, of Livingston was traveling east when it is reported that the Wilson failed to drive in a single lane when he left the roadway to the left and overturned.

Wilson was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to DPS, this is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
