December 3, 2025 - First Methodist and First Baptist Church, in collaboration with Lone Star Baptist, invites you to a presentation of Journey of the Bells, an original “dramatic concert” at the John Dean Windham Civic Center on Sunday, December 14.
The musical story follows two women’s journey: One tells the true local story of Jenny in 2019 as she and her husband strive to adopt their daughter Nora. The other tells the true ancient story of Mary in Nazareth and Bethlehem as she and her husband strive to receive their son Jesus. We know the joyous outcome of both those stories, but the struggles themselves—sometimes frustrating, sometimes funny, always poignant—help us relate to them better. It’s a journey that can bring new understanding to the Christmas story in all it’s incredible humanity and majesty.
Journey of the Bells features singers and actors from all three churches as well as a professional orchestra composed of many local band directors and members of area bands like Zach Mason and the Jars, Passengers Unknown, and the Cole Stephens band. Both standard Christmas songs and brand new songs as well as original dramatic and comedic scenes combine to make for a unique evening of entertainment and uplift.
The house opens at 6pm and the presentation of the 55-minute production begins at 6:30pm. Admission is free.
