Although not all areas will see rain today, brief heavy downpours and gusty winds may accompany any storms that develop along the front as it shifts southward.
- This Afternoon: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4pm. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 102. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest.
- Tonight: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
There are increasing signals that we may finally see a meaningful pattern change by the end of September and heading into October. Although this may not impact temperatures very much, it does appear that rainfall will be trending above average during the first half of October.
