Joaquin Rams Stadium on Thursday, September 4, 2025 –
The Joaquin Rams varsity football team evened their season mark to 1-1 with a 35-16 home win over the Beckville Bearcats on Thursday. The Rams gained the first lead of the contest when Cooper Bragg returned a Bearcats punt 71 yards for a Rams touchdown. A Kason Stanaland extra point gave the Rams a 7-0 point advantage with 6:33 left in the first quarter.
Beckville bounced back on their next drive with an 11-play 60-yard scoring drive which saw Jorden Prince score on a 1-yard touchdown run with just 44 seconds remaining in the first period. A Jordan Mojica extra point kick tied the game at 7-7.
The second quarter saw Trenton Runnels cap a 69-yard drive with 1-yard scoring run which gave JHS a 14-7 advantage at the 8:08 mark. Jacob Gatlin gave Joaquin another possession at the 7 minute mark of the third stanza when he intercepted a pass at the Joaquin 45-yardline. The Rams drive saw Amarion Wilson score on an 8-yard touchdown run with 5:39 remaining in the first half. Another Stanaland extra point gave JHS a 21-7 advantage.
Jacob Gatlin later intercepted a Bearcats pass and returned it 50 yards for another Joaquin score and the Rams led 28-7 with 4:47 left until halftime. Seconds before the intermission a high snap in the endzone awarded the Bearcats a safety which saw Joaquin go into the intermission with a 28-9 lead.
Joaquin extended their lead in the third quarter when Bragg scored on a 16-yard touchdown run at the 1:55 minute mark which extended the JHS lead to 35-9.
Beckville cut the Rams lead to 35-6 in the fourth period when Braxton Bullock scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with just 8:06 remaining in the contest. A Mojica extra point kick cut Joaquin’s lead to 35-16 and this proved to be the final score.
The Rams will travel to Tenaha on Thursday, September 11, 2025 for a 7:30 p.m. game at Raymond Jackson Stadium. Tenaha is 0-2 this season after 48-7 loss at West Sabine on Thursday.
