The Joaquin Rams varsity football team took a 56-0 District 11 2A-1 win over the visiting Hemphill Hornets for their 2025 Rams Homecoming on Friday. The win moves Joaquin’s overall mark to 4-3 and they are at 1-1 in District 11 play. Hemphill stands at 1-6, 0-2.
Joaquin gained a early lead when Trenton Runnels hit Conner Rios for a 39-yard touchdown reception with 8:35 left in the first period. A Kason Stanaland extra point kick saw JHS leading 7-0. The Rams extended their lead to 14-0 after Degan Lee recovered a fumble on the Hornets 27-yardline and Amarion Wilson then scored three plays later, on a 4-yard touchdown run, with 5:49 left in the opening period. Cooper Bragg intercepted a Hornets pass attempt moments later and he then scored on a 55-yard touchdown run which extended the Rams lead to 22-0 after Londell Parker scored a 2-point conversion with 3:30 remaining in the first frame.
Zac Kelley scored on a 48-yard touchdown run with 10:51 left in the second stanza which gave Joaquin a 28-0 advantage. Conner Rios recovered a fumble near the Hemphill 40-yardline with under 7 minutes left in the second period which led to an Amarion Wilson 15-yard touchdown with 4:30 left in the first half. Parker converted a 2-point run and JHS was up 36-0. A 37-yard Jadyn Brown touchdown run and another Stanaland extra point kick boosted the Rams lead to 43-0 just before halftime.
Lee scored his second touchdown run of the game with 7:44 left in the third quarter to help JHS grown their lead to 50-0. Brown scored on a 22-yard run with 3:09 left in the third quarter to give JHS a 56-0 advantage and this proved to be the final score of the contest.
Joaquin will next head to Timpson on Friday, October 24, 2025 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Bears Stadium. The Bears fell to the Shelbyville Dragons last Thursday by a 17-14 score. The Bears stand at 3-4 overall and 1-1 in District 11.
