January 22, 2026 - Notice is hereby given that a Special meeting of the Governing body of the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court will be held on the 28th day of January, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. in the Courtroom of the Shelby County Courthouse at 200 San Augustine Street, Center, Shelby County, Texas to deliberate and consider action on the following items:
1. Approve and pay weekly expenses.
2. Approve current payroll.
3. Public comments on Agenda item.
4. Discuss and possibly approve to move forward with the Courthouse parking lot and sidewalk renovations.
5. Discuss and possibly approve the bid received for (1) Haul truck for PCT 1.
6. Representative with Safeco to present a quote to the Court for necessary upgrades to the fire safety system at the Sheriff’s Office.
7. Chief Hanson to present quotes from American National Leasing Company, and discuss future vehicle leasing options for patrol vehicles used by the Sheriff’s Department.
8. Discuss and possibly allow JP Donna Hughes to hire a part-time employee until she can fill the permanent position in her office.
9. Record the filing of the Vehicle Inventory Tax Fund audit for January 2026.
10. Discuss and possibly approve a school bus turn around on CR 3267.
11. Discuss getting alternative phone and internet services to ensure that the County offices and first responder communications do not have a lapse in coverage.
12. Discuss and possibly approve the hiring of Scott Burkhalter for Deputy Constable Pct 5 to serve under Constable Pct 5 John Pope.
13. Record the Racial Profiling Report for John Pope, Constable Pct 5.
14. Record the Racial Profiling Report for Taylor Fanguy, Constable Pct 4.
15. Accept Constable Taylor Fanguy’s resignation as Constable of Precinct 4, effective at 12:00 midnight on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
