Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Portions of Shelby County (Update: 11:58pm)

April 28, 2024 - (Update - 11:58pm): The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for, Southwestern Natchitoches Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Sabine Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Southeastern Shelby County in eastern Texas, Southeastern Angelina County in eastern Texas, Southern San Augustine County in eastern Texas, and Sabine County in eastern Texas until 12:30am CDT.

At 11:41pm CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Zwolle to 11 miles southeast of Milam to near Harrisburg, moving east at 40 mph.

  • Hazard: 70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
  • Source: Radar indicated.
  • Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include: Natchitoches, Milam, Many, Zwolle, Hemphill, Pineland, Rosevine, Zavalla, Florien, Provencal, Huxley, Noble, Fisher, Broaddus, Robeline, Kisatchie, Belmont, Bronson, McElroy, and Yellowpine.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

At 11:05pm CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Rosevine, or 26 miles northeast of Ebenezer, moving southeast at 35 mph.

  • Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
  • Source: Radar indicated.
  • Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

At 9:16 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Martinsville, or 14 miles southwest of Center, moving northeast at 35 mph.

At 6:02pm CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles southwest of Henderson, moving northeast at 45 mph.
