Shelby County Football for Week 6

Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams won last week.

The Center Roughriders are 2-3 after falling to Madisonville by a 21-14 score last week. They will enjoy an open-bye week this week. On October 10 they will host the undefeated Carthage Bulldogs to begin district play.

The Joaquin Rams won a close 27-26 game at Corrigan-Camden last Friday. The Rams are 3-2 and will have a bye week for October 3. The Rams will head to San Augustine on October 10 to kick off district action.

The Shelbyville Dragons got their first win at home when they beat the Carlisle Indians by a 38-34 score. The Dragons are now 1-4. They will next have a bye this week and travel to Garrison’s Bulldog Stadium on Friday, October 10. Garrison is 2-2. This game will kick off District 11 2A-1 conference play for both teams.

The Tenaha Tigers fell to 1-4 with a 51-0 District 11 2A-2 loss at Lovelady. The Tigers are 0-1 in the conference and will face the Overton Mustangs at Tenaha’s Raymond Jackson Stadium on Saturday, October 4 for their 2025 Tenaha Homecoming game which kicks off at 7 p.m. Overton is 3-2, they are 0-1 in the district after a loss to Grapeland by a 37-27 score last week.

The Timpson Bears beat Wolfe City by a 61-48 score on Thursday. The Bears will face Hooks for their last non-district game at home in John Herbert Eakin Stadium on Friday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. The Hooks Hornets are 2-2 and they beat Queen City by a 41-14 score at Hooks last week.
