Superheroes for Autism 5K Raises $30,000 for Uniting Pieces Ministry

April 5, 2026 (Photo Album) - Despite the possiblity of rain, Superheroes turned out for the Autism 5K benefiting Uniting Pieces, a ministry of Center Missionary Baptist Church, on Saturday, April 4. Between sponsors and runners, the fundraiser raised over $30,000 to help families living with autism.

The first male runner to cross the finish line was Enrique Leon from Center with a time of 19:58. The first female to the finish line was Crystalena Oberweiser from Nacogdoches with a time of 28:21.

There were 86 runners with bibs who ran in the 5K. Many more ran or walked just to support the cause along the 5K as well as the 1.5 Mile route.

Following the awarding of medals for the top three in each division, several individuals who have been through similar challenges spoke about the Uniting Pieces ministry as well as shared their experiences with autism.
