September 11, 2025 - After 65 years, one family continues to seek answers in the death of their family member and seeks answers from public officials today.
Charles Thorn was found dead August 9, 1960 under suspicious circumstances and answers are still being sought by his family, his brother James in particular. (See article here: Sheriff's Office Opens Cold Case Investigation into Suspicious Death; Brother Seeks Answers
“65 years ago my brother was murdered, I have requested several investigations in the past and each time I was told that there was no new information, that the information they discovered was old etc.,” said Thorn.
Thorn feels that there has been a coverup of some kind since the beginning, and it’s his opinion that this continues to this day, even though those in positions of authority have long since passed.
“My family’s always wanted to know why the county, the city has covered the story up. Loss of paperwork, misfiled it, destroyed it, whatever,” said Thorn.
Thorn has submitted requests for public information to agencies including the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, County Judge, Center Police Department and he continues to offer a reward for information leading to information on who is responsible.
