October 6, 2026 (Additional Photos) - Timpson FFA swept the Shelby County Ag Mechanics Poultry Festival Show winning first place in Sweepstakes with nearly double the points of the 2nd place team. Projects brought by all the schools who participated set a high bar for next year's show.
The Shelby County Ag Mechanics had a great turnout at the 50th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival! Students from area schools presented their projects which were grouped into eight different categories: Livestock, Tractor Implements and Farm Equipment; Outdoor Recreation; Indoor Furnishings; Cooking Devices / Smokers; Wildlife; Trailers; and Restoration / Repurpose. At the end of the judging which was Thursday morning, 40 projects placed with 34 making the live Ag Mechanics Auction which was held Saturday evening at 5pm.
Items that didn't make the sale were presented to festival goers in a silent auction.
Prior to the auction, the Category and Sweepstakes Awards were presented by the Awards Sponsor Texas Air Conditioning, Electric and Plumbing. Representatives of the company were Generator Services Manager Andrew McCuistion and Electrical Services Manager Josh Spizzirri.
The Ag students were also feed a lunch during the festival by the Ag Mechanics Lunch Sponsor, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance.
