Back to School Schedule for Shelby County Schools

December 29, 2016 - Tomorrow is the last day of the Christmas Holidays for many of the school districts in Shelby County with the students getting one extra day of vacation the following Monday. Most schools have staff developement or staff-in-service the day before the students return back to the classroom.

December 29, 2016 - The Boys Scouts Troop 119 handed out Christmas cards on Thursday, December 15, 2016 to residents in Shelby County nursing homes and assisted living facilities along with the employees at each facility.

December 28, 2016 - Center Rotary Club members collected toys for Santa Rides a Motorcycle during the month of December.

December 23, 2016 - Shelby County offices will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas Holidays.

Fire Department Fights Structure Fire at Shelbyville Grocery

December 23, 2016 - The Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 2:16 am in downtown Shelbyville.

Poor Visibility Contributes to Back-to-Back Morning Crashes

December 23, 2016 - Fog and smoke contributed to two crashes Thursday morning, one of which was an emergency response vehicle arriving on scene of the first crash.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Jimmy Faulkner, a cluster of crashes occurred on US Hwy 96 Thursday, December 22, 2016. The first crash was at 5:45am in San Augustine County near the Shelby County line and the San Augustine Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.

Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep Announces Winner of 50" TV

December 15, 2016 - The Stock a Ram for Santa hosted by Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep was a success bringing in lots of toys for the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center Toy Drive. Everyone who donated a toy was entered into a drawing for a 50" screen TV and on December 12th the winner was drawn. Congratulations to Edgar Pineda who won the drawing for the TV!
