July 9, 2024 - Following the storm which entered Shelby County July 7-8, 2024, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is encouraging those who may have damage to utilize the TDEM Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) to submit damages incurred by your Residence or Business property.
July 8, 2024 - Timpson Mayor Debra Smith is telling everyone as of 1:41pm July 8, 2024 to stay home at this time as tornadoes are hitting Shelby County as the result of Beryl.
City Hall has been damaged. Quick Stop has received damage and other buildings in the city have also been received damage from the storm.
Everyone is asked to please stay home. Stay off the roads, and stay safe. Do not come to Timpson at this time.

July 6, 2024 - State Highway 7 (SH7) East was the scene of a two-vehicle crash Friday, July 5, 2024, involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle at around 9pm.
July 4, 2024 - U.S. Highway 96 South was the scene of a major two-vehicle crash Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:50am.
Emergency responders with Center Fire Department, Texas Department and Public Safety and Shelby County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of the crash near CR 1008.
Fire personnel were immediately concerned with all involved, but most notably a three-week-old infant that was involved in the incident.
The Shelby County Commissioners heard from Andrew Harmon, Deep East Texas Council of Governments Assistant Executive Director, over the Shelby County Broadband Planning Committee during their June 19, 2024 meeting.
July 2, 2024 - Geaux Bags were delivered to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department on July 2, 2024 when K.C. Kilpatrick, founder and executive director of Geaux 4 Kids, was joined by other volunteers and supporters in delivering Geaux Bags to Shelby County.
July 1, 2024 - Emergency personnel responded to a shooting incident which claimed the life of one individual in Center on Saturday at a residence just near the police department.
