FM 147, SH 87 Scene of Fatal Crash Incident

August 13, 2025 - State Highway 87 near FM 147 was the scene of a single-vehicle fatality crash Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Personnel with the Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene at 1:35am with their main engine and found the driver of the vehicle to be trapped inside. The firefighters extricated the driver from the vehicle utilizing Jaws-of-Life to pop the driver’s door out and cut a corner of the roof. Although life-saving efforts were performed once the driver was removed from the vehicle he had succumbed to his injuries.

DPS Investigates Single-Vehicle Crash on SH 7 West

August 12, 2025 - State Highway 7 West between Center and FM 711 was the scene of an early morning single-vehicle crash Monday, August 11, 2025.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the location sometime after 5:40am. Center Fire Department firefighters assisted Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers with traffic control while they conducted their investigation.

County Accepts Resignation of Constable Tipton, Nolle Prosequi Agreement

July 30, 2025 - The Shelby County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Josh Tipton from the position of Constable Precinct 5 during their meeting held July 30, 2025.

A letter was submitted to County Judge Allison Harbison via email from Josh Tipton resigning his position as constable for precinct 5 and Judge Harbison stated it was effective Friday, July 25, 2025.

12 Cases Receive Shelby County Grand Jury Indictment

July 25, 2025 - A Shelby County Grand Jury delivered 12 indictments on Monday, July 21, 2025. The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2025 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.

Luther Isaiah Glenn was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges, on November 30, 2023, Glenn threatened Christefer Deromus Bell with imminent bodily injury by shooting at the said victim and used or exhibited a .380 Glock handgun, during commission of the assault.
