April 11, 2023 - The Shelby County Commissioners agreed during their March 22, 2023, meeting to re-open CR 2020 following a series of traffic shutdowns due to train delays.
Following years of illegal trash dumping, stolen vehicles, reported drug activity, police pursuits, and the body of a man being dumped on the road in 2019, it was approved by the commissioners in August 2020 to close one mile of CR 2020.
April 10, 2023 - The Tenaha Police Department has received a supply of Narcan to help in the event a citizen has been the victim of an overdose of an opioid, or in the event an officer has been exposed to such a substance while performing their duties.
April 5, 2023 - The Shelby County Commissioners designated April as Child Abuse Awareness month during their April 5, 2023, meeting and appointed a new Shelby County Local Health Authority.
April 4, 2023 - A proclamation signing for Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month was held at the Shelby County Courthouse on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the 273rd District Courtroom.
April 4, 2023 - Tenaha Police Department and Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash located on U.S. Highway 84.
April 3, 2023 - The Tenaha Police Department and Tenaha Volunteer Fire department were both dispatched to the U.S. Highway 59 North ramp in response to a single-vehicle crash.
March 31, 2023 - VFW Post 8904 and Auxiliary members gathered at the Shelby County Veterans Memorial March 29, 2023, in recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
An opening prayer was led by Kenneth Ramsey, Post Chaplain, and the program was led by Larry Hume, Post Quartermaster.
