DETEC Status Update as of 10am: Over 300 Men Working to Restore Power

February 21, 2021 - In the last 24 hours, crews have restored power to approximately 4,000 members across the service area. As mentioned before, with so many trees and limbs on power lines pulling distribution and service lines down, this type of work simply just takes time. With this, it is very difficult to give estimates of restoration per area. On Wednesday we estimated that this work could take up to 3 weeks. We have had good weather the last two days and more in the forecast, and hope to greatly exceed this timeline.

DETEC Status Update as of 10am: Power Restoration Progressing with 7,000 More Restored

February 20, 2021 - Yesterday and overnight, crews have restored power to over 7,000 members across the service area. Above freezing temperatures, accessible roads and more crews have contributed to this progress. Again, restoration is expected to be a slow process due to outages being scattered across our 8 county system vs isolated to specific areas. This coupled with yesterday being the first day we could really make some ground, estimates of restoration for each area are just not available yet.

Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative Busily Preparing for Winter Weather

February 12, 2021 - As we closely monitor the weather situation, DETEC is prepped and ready to respond. Despite all efforts and preventative measures, heavy snow and ice will cause outages. Please report outages and hazards to DETEC at 1-800-392-5986. We know that being without power is an inconvenience and frigid temperatures make outages more difficult to endure. We assure that our crews will always work as quickly as they safely can. Please keep them in your prayers as they respond.
