DPS Investigates Fatal Auto-pedestrian Crash

September 30, 2023 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred on Farm-to-Market Road 2694, near the 760-mile marker, that occurred, September 29, 2023.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 9:10am, a 2011 GMC pickup driven by Samuel Furlow, 64, of Shelbyville was traveling west. It is reported that the pickup was traveling over a hilltop and struck a pedestrian that was walking in the westbound lane.

Furlow was not reported to have been injured.

DPS Investigates Two-vehicle Crash on FM 699

August 21, 2023 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a crash on Farm-to-Market Road 699, north of County Road 3717, that occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 9:30am, a 1993 Peterbilt truck tractor driven by Richard Mills, 66, of Carthage was traveling south and stopped for a construction zone flagger. It is reported that a 2019 Dodge Ram driven by Bryan Orellana, 33, of Farmers Branch and towing a trailer, also traveling south, struck the rear of the Peterbilt.

DPS Investigates U.S. 84 Crash, Charges Driver with DWI

March 27, 2023 - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 84, near the 880-mile marker, that occurred Sunday, March 26, 2023.

The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 3:30am, a 2001 Ford pickup was traveling west. It is reported that the driver left the road to the left and struck a barbed wire fence. Further investigation revealed that the driver was intoxicated.
