April 12, 2023 - On Monday, April 10, 2023 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on County Road 4297 in Center in regards to an accident.
Once on scene, it was determined that a two-year-old child had been run over by a vehicle. No foul play is suspected in this case. This has been ruled an accidental death.
April 7, 2023 - After an extensive narcotics investigation, Sheriff Kevin W. Windham reports the arrest of Roy Jacobs, 67, of Center and Lisa Jacobs, 61, of Center.
Updated: The Sheriff's Department reports Gary Smith has been taken into custody by investigators with the SCSO with assistance of the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office at 3:20pm.
January 10, 2023 - Today, January 10, 2023 marks the 50th birthday of Cole Duane Jackson. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on Cole Duane Jackson, a white male who vanished from the Timpson, Texas area on July 13th, 2006. Mr. Jackson was 33 years of age at the time of his disappearance, 16 years and six months ago. Mr. Jackson was last seen in the area of FM 1645 in Timpson, Texas, and was seen driving a grey 2003 Dodge half-ton 4 wheel drive pickup truck. Mr.
January 5, 2023 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a 4-wheeler. On or about December 28, 2022, a Grizzly 550 4x4 4-wheeler was removed from a deer lease in the Hollow Rock area located in the Silas/Stockman community.
December 2, 2022 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved in two separate criminal mischief incidents that occurred on Friday, November 25, 2022, in the area of County Road 4688 and FM 947. Both incidents involved a rock being thrown at the residences, causing damage to windows.
November 23, 2022 - The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office requested the pond where the body of Inga Lout was found be drained oin Friday, November 4, 2022. Jamie Hagler, Constable Precinct 2, made contact with Lenny Dupuis, supervisor of Chi Omni Environmental Solution in Center, and within one hour, Dupuis had equipment on scene. Chi Omni provided lighting, pumpers, a vacuum truck, skilled drivers, equipment operators, and other needed materials to drain the pond. Chi Omni stayed on location for a total of three days providing their services free of charge to the county.
