My Five Cents: DJ Daniel, Tax Exemption, Trey's Law, SB 14 (DOGE), TEA, Foster Children

April 11, 2025 - This week the Texas Senate welcomed DJ Daniel to the chamber. DJ is a 13 year old from the Houston area who is battling terminal brain and spine cancer. His dream is to become a police officer and he has set a goal to be sworn in by 1,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, which would be a record. 

This week, he moved one step closer to that goal when he was sworn into as an officer with the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

April 4, 2025 - This week we welcomed the Texas Forestry Association (TFA) to the Texas Capitol. General Santa Anna launched an early morning assault on the mission; the battle lasted 90 minutes. All defenders of the Alamo were killed in the battle. The slogan “Remember the Alamo!” became a rallying cry for the Texas Revolution, which successfully defeated the Mexican army at the Battle of San Jacinto weeks later.
