March 12, 2026 ⎯  Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has launched a streamlined State of Texas Application on WorkInTexas.com. The updated application simplifies the hiring process to help attract new talent to state jobs and is part of a broader state effort to reduce red tape and burdensome regulations in government.

Texas Opens Applications For Texas Education Freedom Accounts

February 11, 2026 — Governor Greg Abbott today highlighted that families can now apply for the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program. Administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts under Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock, the TEFA program gives parents greater freedom and flexibility in choosing the best educational environment for their children.

Governor Abbott Names President, Appoints Three To Sabine River Authority Board Of Directors

November 20, 2025 — Governor Greg Abbott named Cliff Todd as president of the Sabine River Authority Board of Directors and reappointed Richard “Blair” Abney, Joshua A. “Josh” McAdams, and Kevin M. Williams for terms to be determined as set forth by law. The purpose of the Sabine River Authority is to conserve, store, control, preserve, utilize, and distribute the storm and flood waters and the waters of the Sabine River and its tributaries.

Governor Abbott, THECB Announce Free College Application Week

October 6, 2025 — Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) announced Free College Application Week October 13-19, 2025

"Texas prioritizes opportunities for students to pursue the best education they need to succeed in high demand, good-paying jobs after graduation," said Governor Abbott. "During free college application week, Texans can apply to their preferred colleges or universities without application fees. By supporting our students today, we are investing in a stronger Texas tomorrow."

Governor Abbott Announces First Texas Energy Fund Loan To 122 MW Natural Gas Facility

June 27, 2025 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the first Texas Energy Fund (TEF) loan agreement will fund a 122 megawatt (MW) natural gas power plant in Texas. With the TEF executed by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), the Rock Island Generation Project will provide new reliable, dispatchable power generation near one of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region’s largest electricity demand centers.

Gov. Abbott Announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Grant to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc.

June 26, 2025 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $5.3 million has been extended to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. (MPCA) for an expansion of their production facility in Killeen, which is expected to create more than $150 million in capital investment.
