Governor Announces Over $3.3 million in Grants to East Texas Area Veteran Service Organizations

August 6, 2026 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced $3,307,000 in Funds for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants have been awarded to 13 organizations in the East Texas region as part of the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Grants Across Texas Tour. Administered by TVC, the funding will provide services to an estimated more than 1,900 local veterans.

May 15, 2026 – Governor Greg Abbott today announced nine Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants totaling $2,524,300 have been awarded to nine schools in East Texas by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The JET grants will support career and technical education (CTE) training programs by helping the schools purchase and install equipment to initially train 700 students for high-demand occupations such as automotive service technicians, registered nurses, HVAC mechanics and installers, and more.
