Shelby County Judge Urges Caution When Burning Outdoors

August 7, 2015 - Shelby County Judge, Allison Harbison, would like to urge everyone to use caution when burning outdoors.

Commissioners Court will consider adopting a 90 day burn ban on Monday, August 10th, however, until then Judge Harbison asks everyone to use good judgement when burning trash or brush.

Judge Harbison talked with the Texas Forest Service and if you feel you must burn outdoors, they ask that you call the proper authorities at the first hint of danger.

FEMA and DSA Inspectors in Shelby County

July 24, 2015 - Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison would like to inform the public that a Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) crew with FEMA will be in Shelby County next week to register individuals for assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact the County Judge's office if you haven’t already. It is not too late to apply for assistance. The crew will be going door to door in neighborhoods that were affected. They will have ID badges and will introduce themselves as FEMA representatives.

Area Residents Impacted by Recent Weather Damage Eligible for Assistance

 June 12, 2015 - If you have been impacted by flooding, downed trees, or any other property damage between the dates of May 4, 2015 and June 3, 2015 you may be eligible for assistance in repairing and/or replacing your property. You can pick up an application at the County Judge’s office on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse located at 200 San Augustine Street in Center. This applies to your individual property and/or business property.
