State Parks Day Pass Reservations for Eclipse Open March 8

March 1, 2024 – State Park day pass reservations for April 8 will open 8 a.m. March 8 (CST).

Those hoping to view the total eclipse from a state park location can call the Texas State Parks Reservations Center at 512-389-8900 or go online for all parks except Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Reservations for Enchanted Rock will need to be made March 11 by phone only.

Executive Director Appointed to the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council

February 21, 2024 - The Secretaries of Interior and Commerce recently appointed Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Executive Director, David Yoskowitz, Ph.D., to serve on the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council.

The committee advises the U.S. Secretary of the Interior and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on aquatic conservation and restoration endeavors to benefit fishery resources and enhance recreational boating.

Anglers Deliver a ShareLunker Trifecta

February 9, 2024 - Three anglers at three separate lakes caught Legacy Class ShareLunkers Monday afternoon to kickstart the second month of the 2024 Toyota ShareLunker collection season. It was the 13th time in program history that anglers submitted three or more Legacy Class largemouth bass in a single day. This is the first triple lunker day since the 2021 collection season when the feat was accomplished twice.

Brazos Bend State Park Hosts ‘Explore Bowhunting’ Event Rescheduled for February 24

February 2, 2024 - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Community Archery Program is joining forces with Brazos Bend State Park on February 24, 2024 to help the public “Explore Bowhunting.

The event gives participants an opportunity to learn more about hunting with a bow ahead of the upcoming archery season for white-tailed deer.

Texas Master Naturalist Program Celebrates 25th Anniversary

November 14, 2023 - Over the last 25 years, more than 15,300 Texas Master Naturalist volunteers have made their mark by dedicating their time to helping protect and conserve the state’s natural resources.

Their impact spans across more than 256,000 acres of Texas’ landscapes from the lush tidal marshes of the Gulf Coast to the arid vistas of the Trans Pecos.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Commission Thank Texans for Approving Prop 14

November 8, 2023 — Ballots have been tallied from election day and voters have made it clear— state parks matter to the people of Texas. Proposition 14, which creates the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund, passed with overwhelming support from Texas voters.

The fund is made from a portion of state budget surplus and creates a dedicated funding stream for acquiring and developing state parks.
