June 9, 2025 - First Baptist church of Timpson has had a setback for our annual Vacation Bible School week. It was planned to start Monday, June 9, 2025. Yesterday evening, high winds came through our town causing considerable damage to the front of our church.
This caused the church to have to postpone getting VBS started. With God’s guidance, prayers and many volunteers we are happy to report that First Baptist Church will now start VBS Tuesday, June 10th and it will run through the 14th. Students will enter at the Family Life Center (Gym) entrance nightly. 5:30pm – 8pm. This includes PK – 6th Grade.
June 9, 2025 - Logansport MBC and Bethlehem MBC are joining together for a 3 night VBS, June 16-18 from 6-8:30 nightly at Logansport MBC, 1109 Main Street, Logansport, Louisiana. All are welcome to come join us in a great time of learning about God's word.
June 9, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, June 9.
I’m a long time student of poetry. A poem can inspire you, can comfort you, can teach you, can change you. One of my favorite poets is William Blake, an eccentric English genius who was also an accomplished painter and composer. Blake had a complicated and challenging relationship with Christianity, but he also wrote this simple, sentimental poem - “The Lamb”.
Little lamb, who made thee, dost thou know who made thee
Gave thee life and bid thee feed by the stream and o’er the mead
Gave thee clothing of delight, softest clothing wooly bright
Gave thee such a tender voice, making all the vales rejoice
Little lamb, who made thee, dost thou know who made thee
Little lamb, I’ll tell thee, little lamb, I’ll tell thee
He is called by thy name for He calls himself a Lamb
He is meek and He is mild. He became a little child
I, a child, and thou, a lamb, we are called by His name
Little lamb, God bless thee. Little lamb, God bless thee
John 1:29 - And he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”
Revelation 5:12 - Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David

June 5, 2025 - There was a time when riding the train was the dominant form of travel in our nation. I remember as a boy, going with my father to the depot in Marshall to pick up “Aunt Mary” when she would ride the train from Little Rock for a visit. Well, I read a story from that era not long ago. It seems there was a little crippled boy who was carrying a basket of candy and fruit to sell, hurrying to the passenger gate of the depot as fast as his crutches would permit. As the passengers rushed through the gate, a fast moving young business executive accidentally hit the boy’s basket, knocking its contents in every direction. He paused only long enough to severely scold the crippled lad for being in his way.
Another young business man, rushing through the depot, saw the young boy’s distress and immediately began picking up the scattered items. After returning all the contents to the basket, he put a dollar bill in the boy’s hand. He smiled at hiss young friend, patted him on the shoulder and said, “better luck next time!” Then he was on his way.

May 29, 2025 - Unexpected dinner guests. Have you ever had that happen? That is what happens to Jesus and the disciples in Mark chapter 6. John the Baptist had just been killed and Jesus and the disciples were trying to get to a secluded place. They were tired from the teaching and healing being done. They were leading busy lives and needed a little R & R.
It is on this occasion that we find Jesus taking 5 loaves and 2 fish and feeding 5,000 men. Yet, notice the question Jesus asked them in Mark 6:38. He asked, “how many loaves have ye?”
Jesus was not asking for information. He was not asking because he couldn’t do it without their loaves. He was, rather, trying to teach them and us a lesson. He wanted them and us to know that He is to bless others through us. He wanted those disciples to know they must be willing to use what they have. We must be willing to use what we have also.
You see, what we have must be given into His hands. We are to use our strength, our tongue and our heart. We are to use our material means. We are to be the earthen vessels in the service of Jesus. Jesus asks us today, “how many loaves have ye?” Are we using what we have, the talents He has given us, in His service?
It’s something to think about... tbp
