June 13, 2017 - Can we ever have complete trust in anything of this earth?

The Prophet, Micah tells us; "Do not trust in a friend, Do not put your confidence in a companion" (Micah 7:5) "I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God shall hear me" (Micah 7:7)

Micah says we are to trust in the Lord and not in things or people of this world. President Reagan had a famous saying, "trust but verify" I think that is a good reminder for us. We see and hear so many things each day which are professed to be the truth, but are they? How can we know? Only by calling upon God in His wisdom can we truly know the truth, only by study in His Word can we discern the truth from the lies.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding". (Proverbs 3:5) In order to survive this life and yet prepare for eternity we must learn to trust in Him alone. We must not only trust in the Lord, but that we must trust only in Him and to; "lean not on your own understanding." To me, this means to ask Him for His guidance in all things, first, before going on our own.

"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths". (Proverbs 3:6)

If we can learn to completely trust God with our lives, then we can walk with confidence, we can be assured that He will direct our paths and that we will surely walk in the paths of righteousness as God would have us to do.

We must be careful to never feel that we are wise or think that we have all the answers to life's questions. "Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn away from evil." (Proverbs 3:7)

Any time we begin to feel secure in our own wisdom we are surely destined to fall, for only God has the wisdom to direct our paths in the proper direction each day.

"It will be healing to your flesh, and refreshment to your bones." (Proverbs 3:8)

We will experience difficulties; we will most certainly have illnesses and pains, that is a part of life, a part of our testing, of  our purifying, by our difficulties we are made pure and ready for God's presence.

Jesus told us about trusting anything "of this world " when He said; "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

Clearly, Christ is telling us not to trust or depend upon the things of this world, for in time, all we will have will be our knowledge of His Word to trust and hang on to.

(Psalm 32:10) sums it up very well; "Many, are the sorrows of the wicked; but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

If you do not know the joy of living in the Lord Jesus, open your heart and accept him today, allow the Holy Spirit to fill your soul with the untold joy of knowing the Lord. Ask him to forgive you and cleanse your heart of all sin and he will.

May God bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you this day...

June 6, 2017 - Many people wonder each day what they should do, where they should go, how they should get there. The Prophet Jeremiah tells us of the futility of thinking we can lean on our own understanding when he says; "I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in man who walks to direct his steps." (Jeremiah 10:23)

So what did the prophet tell us? Simply that as man we cannot lead ourselves, that we cannot direct our own steps, that we must have help from our Lord if we are to find our way through this world to the eternity in heaven with the Lord that we all seek.

So, how do we find this leader who will properly direct our steps to eternity? It is simple really, Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew what to do in order to receive the the gift of salvation.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7) Jesus is telling all who will listen what has to be done to receive the blessing of salvation from the Lord. As he goes on; "For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:8)

What is the one requirement for any of these to happen? Belief, one must believe that God will answer his prayer for it to happen. If you do trust in the Lord, knowing that you must have his guidance and leadership then your prayers will most certainly be answered. Maybe not in the way you have in mind but in the way God knows is best for you.

As we go through this life on earth always looking for a better life, we are seeking as the scripture says, "seek, and you will find", Jesus gives us the answer to this part of the question as well when he talks about worrying about our daily needs. He tells us not to worry for our Heavenly Father knows what we need and if we seek, we will find.
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)

The secret to seeking is to seek for the right things, the kingdom of God and his righteousness. For those who trust in the Lord and follow his commandments each day, their needs are provided by the Heavenly Father. Seek and you will find!

What does he mean then about knocking and it will be opened?  In Revelation Jesus talks about his own knocking and how by answering that knock we find him and eternal joy.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me." (Revelation 3:20) That knock is on your heart's door and if it is opened for him you will receive the ultimate joy of life, the joy of living and walking with the Lord Jesus each day. These are the. Things one must do to find the true joy of the Lord in life.

It requires patience each day and perseverance to reach the final goal of an eternity spent in heaven with the Lord but it is possible for the Lord assures us of that fact.
"The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne." ( Revelation 3:21)

Seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given you, remain steadfast in your love of the Lord and you will find the eternity you wish for.
May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face to shine upon you this day...
