May 6, 2025 - A Severe Thunderstorm watch was issued by the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Norman, Oklahoma at 9:50pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Severe thunderstorm watch 232 is in effect until 4pm today for the following Texas counties: Anderson, Bosque, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Franklin, Freestone, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Limestone, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Panola, Rains, Rockwall, Rusk, Shelby, Smith, Somervell, Tarrant, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood.

May 5, 2025 - Emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle motorcycle crash on FM 139 Saturday, May 3, 2025, just east of Hurstown.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6pm, a 2023 Suzuki motorcycle ridden by Andre Cartwright, 21, of Shelbyville was westbound, while a 2023 KTM 450 motorcycle ridden by Jaylon Brinson, 23, of Shelbyville was traveling east. It is reported that Cartwright, for an unknown reason, drove on the wrong side of the road and struck the KTM, causing both of the riders to be thrown from their motorcycles.   

Cartwright was transported to Louisiana State University Shreveport Hospital for treatment.  

Brinson was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center by ambulnce for treatment.  

This is an ongoing investigation, and according to DPS, no further information is available at this time.

May 3, 2025 - The unofficial result of the Timpson school election which was held May 3, 2025, for two positions has ended with a tie for the second position for two candidates involved, Carlos Johnson and Cody Beckham. The election results are undecided due to the tie. More information will be published regarding the election once they are available.

The facilities bond proposition did not pass.

The results for board members are as follows:
Carlos Johnson: early, 111; election day, 173; total, 284 (Undecided)
Cody Beckham: early, 94; election day, 190; total, 284 (Undecided)
Justin Timmons: early, 140; election day, 252; total, 392

April 30, 2025 - Emergency personnel responded to the location when it was reported a truck tractor had rolled over and lost its load on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in the Aiken Community.

West Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department fire personnel handled traffic control, while Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers investigated the incident and additional units with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department were on scene.

According to Texas DPS, the preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 3:05pm, a red 2001 Peterbilt 379 truck tractor driven by Troy Sarkies, 29, of Nacogdoches towing a 1998 Viking log trailer, was traveling west turning left from County Road [1210]. 

It's reported that Sarkies attempted the left hand turn at an unsafe speed while accessing State Highway 7. After establishing his lane, the load on the trailer shifted and the truck overturned onto its right side.

Sarkies was not injured.

This is an ongoing investigation, and according to DPS no further information is available at this time.
