Update 6:29pm: Panola College will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, January 12th at all locations.
January 11, 2021 - All Panola College locations are closed today, January 11, due to inclement weather.
January 10, 2021 - Panola College will have a delayed opening tomorrow, January 11, due to inclement weather. Offices will open at 10:30 am and classes will start at 11:15 am.
January 11, 2021 - Shelbyville ISD will not hold school on Tuesday, January 12. The school is without electricity at this time. Due to the possibility for icy roads tomorrow and the fact that many of our students and staff are also without electricity, all classes are cancelled.
January 10, 2021 - Shelbyville ISD is canceling all classes for Monday, January 11. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 12.
January 11, 2021 - Due to the possibility of freezing road surfaces and early visibility issues, TISD will begin school at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
January 10, 2021 - Timpson ISD will be canceling school for tomorrow January 11, 2021. Enjoy the SNOW DAY and stay safe.

January 11, 2021 - A structure where the Center Police Department parks patrol vehicles collapsed today and damaged several automobiles parked underneath. A large amount of snow appeared to still be on the roof when it collapsed.
As the snow continues to thaw in Shelby County, residents may want to consider the added weight which has potentially been added to the roofs of structures where they park their vehicles.
No one was injured when the roof collapsed; however, several patrol units are now in need of repair.



January 11, 2021 - Joaquin ISD will have a late start tomorrow, January 12, 2021. School will start at 10am and staff will report at 9:40am. Buses will run approximately two hours later than normal.

January 10, 2021 - Joaquin ISD will be closed on Monday, January 11, 2021 due to weather. Classes will resume at regular time on Tuesday morning, January 12th.
January 11, 2021 - Due to potentially icy roads in the morning, and due to the fact that Center Elementary School and part of Center High School have no power, Center ISD is cancelling school for Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
January 10, 2021 - Center ISD has cancelled all classes and extra curricular activities for Monday, January 11, 2021.
January 11, 2021 - At 2:45pm CST Monday, January 11, 2021 the National Weather Service, Shreveport, LA, issued a special weather statement for the following Texas counties: Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Angelina, and including the cities of Jacksonville, Rusk, Henderson, Carthage,
Nacogdoches, Center, and Lufkin.
Freezing fog is possible across East Texas and Deep East Texas overnight.
* WHAT... Freezing fog or fog that may result in the development of icy conditions. Visibility below 3 miles is also expected.
* WHERE... Portions of East Texas and Deep East Texas.
* WHEN... Tonight into Tuesday Morning.
* IMPACTS... Slick road conditions on bridges, overpasses, and other untreated paved surfaces where visibility falls below 1/2 mile.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If you must travel, please exercise caution as freezing fog may deposit ice on roadways resulting in slick road conditions. In addition, black ice will also be possible from recent snowfall.

January 11, 2021 - Monday, Jan. 11, Nacogdoches Medical Center is reinstating a restricted visitor policy. This policy is being reestablished out of an abundance of caution as the COVID-19 surge continues to impact hospitalizations in Nacogdoches and surrounding communities.
Some exceptions to the rule apply. These are as follows:
• Pediatric and Women’s Services may have one designated support person during their stay.
• NICU inpatients may have two ID banded parents.
• End of life patients may have visitation exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
• Special consideration may occur for those whose presence provides critical assistance and are essential to maintaining the patient’s safety.
• No minors under the age of 16 will be allowed. Children of antepartum patients will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• There will be no visitation allowed for a patient in a COVID patient care area.
As patients and visitors enter the hospital they will be screened for COVID-19 exposure and symptoms, including fever or respiratory symptoms. If visitors are found to have symptoms the hospital will not allow them to visit. We are committed to keeping our patients, our staff and our community safe.
January 11, 2021 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Board meeting previously postponed due to weather is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20th.
January 11, 2021 - Aurora Concepts is closed today due to the roadway conditions and will reopen on Tuesday, January 12..
