March 2, 2017 - On February 10 at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio, the Timpson High School Band was presented an award for winning the Outstanding Performance Series, a state-wide competition sponsored by the Association of Texas Small School Bands. In this competition, bands submit recordings of the contest selections played at their UIL Concert Contest in the spring. Those recordings are then judged at the region, area and state levels. The winning recordings in each classification are compiled onto a CD that is distributed to band directors throughout the state, and plaques are presented to the winning bands. The Timpson band won with their recording of “Blue Ridge Reel” by Brian Balmages. This is the 3rd consecutive year that THS Band has advanced to the state finals in this competition. Congratulations to the band for receiving this honor and doing such a fine job representing TISD!
