April 7, 2017 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic held their April meeting at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center on April 1.
Hostesses for the meeting were Judy Lee, Janice Butler, Gina Ferrem and Jean Corbell, all descendants of Benjamin Franklin Adams and his wife Brazilia, who arrived in Texas and received a land grant from the Republic of Texas in 1840.
The District Representative of District IV, Susan Aikin of Nacogdoches and Elizabeth Pate, current president of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter led the installation ceremony for the ladies elected to serve for the 2017 - 2019 term. They are: President Judy Lee, Vice-president Gina Ferren, Treasurer Merle Howard, Recording Secretary Tina Dubose,
Registrar Maggie Casto, Chaplain Pollene Estelle Walker and Historian Barbara McClellan, who was unable to attend the meeting. Sheri Hribal and Sarah Waller will continue to serve as sponsors of the JJE Gibson Chapter of the Children of the Republic of Texas.
Members of the Chapter will attend the annual DRT Convention in Dallas in May and the next scheduled meeting will be in September, with a welcome back luncheon.
