Wednesday, May 10, 2017, Center High School –
Four senior students, from Center High School, signed letters of intent to attend college and play sports next season. Center Athletic Director Barry Bowman opened the ceremony which had, coaches students, family, and media in attendance.
Antonio Chavez plans to study Kinesiology at Texas A&M Commerce while participating in cross country athletics under the tutelage of coach Jacob Krolick. Chavez said, “I look forward to getting better and will work hard to fill any position on the team when needed.”
Austin Craig will attend Centenary College in Shreveport and he will play golf for the Gents, while pursuing a degree. Craig said, “There are a few colleges I looked at but Centenary seemed like the best fit. I like the fact that it is just an hour from home.” Craig may walk on to the Gents open basketball tryout next year as well.
Mekayla Hubbard signed to play at Coahoma Community College in Mississippi. She will play softball for their team while studying Kinesiology. She stated, “I have no family there but I look forward to studying and playing softball at the college level.”
Jesse Burns will attend East Texas Baptist University and will play baseball for the Tigers while majoring in religion. Burns said, “I’m ready to get there and to get started. I like what ETBU has to offer.”
