April 6, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, April 6.
This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, that day when we echo the praises of those who lined the streets of Jerusalem, as Jesus entered the city. We’ll lift up our voices in worship, just as they lifted up their palm branches to honor Him. I hope that you will be able to gather with your brothers and sisters in Christ, with your church family, this Palm Sunday.
But, in the midst of all the praises and palms, we must also remember that that first step Jesus took into Jerusalem, was also His first step toward the cross. He didn’t come there that day to receive the praises of the people. He came there to fulfill His calling, His purpose. As He entered down the grand boulevard on that first Palm Sunday, the rugged road to Calvary lay before Him.
Our lives are a mixture of sadness and gladness, of good times and challenging times. And so is the Easter season. We raise our hands and hearts on Palm Sunday. We rejoice in His victory on Easter. But between these two joyous Sundays is a Friday filled with loss and sacrifice and darkness. As He entered to cheers on Palm Sunday, His destiny on the cruel cross awaited.
Take time, at this time of year, to meditate on these things.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
